About Us > School of Social Service

SSTI School of Social Service (SSS) is committed to enhancing the specialised knowledge and skills of people serving in the social and community sector. We provide training in a range of specialised areas such as social work, special education, counselling and therapy for the sector’s personnel to better meet the needs of various populations including people with disabilities, children, youth, families and the elderly. SSS strives to plug training gaps and catalyse new training programmes with experts in the field, locally and from overseas, to keep specialised competence of the sector’s manpower at a forefront.

Our Training Programmes

Professional Development

Professional development programmes include bachelor degrees, diplomas, specialist diplomas and certificates aimed to provide formalised professional training and higher learning in key areas leading to certification by well recognised universities, tertiary institutions, specialist centres or professional associations. Our flagship degrees include the Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Education (Special Education). Programmes like these are ideal for social sector staff and members of the public interested in pursuing educational qualifications in various disciplines.

Skills Development

Skills development programmes consists of short skills-based workshops catered for continuing education and training of the sector’s manpower in various sub-sectors to keep them equipped with useful knowledge and practical skills. They are generally categorised under:

  • Children, Youth & Family
  • Eldercare, Community Health
  • Cross-sector

Volunteer Development

Volunteer development programmes are designed to equip volunteers with skills for working with diverse groups of social service clients including the elderly, youth and people and disabilities.
