- How and where do practitioners find these non-resident men?
- What are their key needs and concerns?
- How do they answer their questions and meet their needs while maintaining confidentiality and support for the children’s mothers?
- What should be the approach when men’s behaviour is less than positive and there are no appropriate services locally to refer them to?
- How do practitioners manage conflict between separated parents without ending up as ‘piggy in the middle’?

- Understand the impact on and benefits to children of the frequency, amount and quality of father-child visits and other connections
- Identify ways to look after yourself, maintain the best possible connections with your children’s mother, and meet your children’s needs as a father

- Identify the different parenting styles of mothers and fathers
- Understand the unique value fathers of children and youth with special health care needs have and the importance of validating a father’s experience and role
- Importance of fathers’ participation in parenting their children
- Share effective fathering strategies for building healthy families
- Empower parents with communication skills to better parent their children with special needs as a team

- When parents separate: What children need?
- ‘Me’: The importance of looking after yourself so you can have a positive relationship with your children
- ‘My children’s mother’: How to go about managing a strong relationship with your children’s mother so you can both do the best for them?
- 'Our children’: Developing the best ways of connecting with your children and maintaining a meaningful relationship
